"But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
A family's commitment to God is expressed through the choices made within the home. Prayer, honesty, kindness, and faithful service make room for faith to become part of ordinary life. Each person can contribute towards a household that honours the Lord.
Joshua made his declaration while calling Israel to choose whom they would serve. He spoke with conviction about the direction of his household. His words challenge us to consider the priorities that guide our own families and the example we are setting.
Spiritual influence begins with personal obedience. We cannot faithfully teach patience while refusing to listen, or commend honesty while practising deception. When our conduct reflects what we believe, our words become more credible to those who know us closely.
Serving God together can begin simply. A short time of prayer, a conversation about Scripture, or a shared act of kindness can help turn a family's attention towards Him. These practices should invite honest participation and grow through love and consistency.
We cannot force another person to believe. Every family member must respond personally to God. We can pray, explain our faith, listen to questions, and offer a faithful example while respecting the dignity of those whose journey differs from ours.
Some homes carry deep disagreements, grief, or strained relationships. In such circumstances, commitment to God includes seeking wise help, protecting those who are vulnerable, and pursuing peace without excusing harm. His truth should shape both our devotion and our treatment of one another.
Begin with what is within your reach today. Offer your family to God in prayer and choose one action that reflects His love. Trust Him to work in hearts as you remain faithful in the responsibilities He has given you.
